MV2 - Social inclusion in climate resilience planning

The impacts of climate change are disproportionately felt by communities that are socially marginalized. Historical and systemic discrimination has meant that these groups are seldom, if at all, involved in climate resilience planning or decision-making processes of local governments. Local governments are sometimes not aware of the barriers faced by different marginalized communities in participating in decision making processes and do not necessarily have the knowhow for enabling these communities to effectively participate in developing climate resilience plans.
