OPENING PLENARY

Forward-looking approaches and implementation roadmaps to address the knowledge gaps identified by the updated GRAA

How different actors can better work together to bridge identified knowledge and innovation gaps at the interface of Research-Policy-Practice

In this opening plenary session, an invited panel of scientists, local leaders and international experts will discuss how key actors in generating and using knowledge should collectively work to better address cities’ knowledge and innovation gaps and opportunities and create partnerships between the scientific and academic community, innovators, businesses, and governments to overcome the challenges local governments face between their publicly reported ambition and full-scale implementation.
With the Updated Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science (updated GRAA) suggesting the most persistent and emerging knowledge and innovation gaps for sustainability and climate change action in cities and regions, “how to better address these gaps collectively” is the key thread for discussion at this plenary.
