C5 – Daring to embrace: More equitable communities through local climate action

There is no doubt that one of the loudest echoes heard during COP 26 was that of Climate Justice. The clamor for the protection of the basic rights and safety of populations most vulnerable to climate change was strong.

Cities, in turn, are great windows of inequalities: they are home to a large part of the population that lacks of security and mobility and is subject to poor air and water quality, floods, landslides, parasites, and countless other problems arising from and exacerbated by the climate crisis, aggravated by -exclusionary- urban planning.

Despite the challenges reaching a global scale, it is possible to find, at the local level, multi stakeholder responses to tackle climate crises affecting vulnerable communities.
