A3 - Co-creating biodiverse, inviting spaces for all

The COVID pandemic has revealed just how different the built and natural environments in which citizens live are. It also showed how important nature is to urban residents, especially biodiverse spaces with a variety of species and vegetation. Many found solace and connection in urban nature during these difficult times. We need to shift towards nature-positive urban planning and design, which focuses on the human need for nature as a “must-have” and not only a “nice to have”. How can we bring more nature into urban neighbourhoods so that all citizens can enjoy nature’s benefits? How can all citizens have a say in planning and maintaining their urban nature?
